Sales data for the end of the year is in and Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare managed to outsell its biggest competitor Battlefield 1 by a decent margin. Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game this holiday season in the UK and #2 overall for the entirety of 2016, only behind FIFA 17 in the region. In the United States, Infinite Warfare is #1 overall for the year in retail, making it the 8th year in a row Call of Duty has held this position.
Eric Hirshberg (Activision CEO)
“Call of Duty is retail’s #1 grossing console franchise in the U.S. for the 8th consecutive year and the boldly innovative Infinite Warfare is the #1 grossing console game of the year at retail in the United States.”
To many this may come as a surprise, considering all the hate the game gets online and in gaming forums. However Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare managed to overcome the negativity and come out on top even though its having trouble keeping up with Black Ops 3.
Leading up into 2017, there is a PS4 Slim Infinite Warfare bundle which is sure to increase sales for the game even further along with the first map pack for the game coming up in a few weeks.
